Bjorn Ironside quickly became famous for his raids across Europe.
The year 859 marks the beginning of an epic odyssey for Björn and his mentor Hasting, they descend along the French coast, brave the Strait of Gibraltar, and extend their journey to the Balearic Islands. The cities of Narbonne, Nîmes and Valence fell under their assault, testifying to their strength and cunning. Bjorn sails the turbulent seas, leading his men in daring attacks against as far as Italy and the gateway to the Arab world.

His reputation as a ruthless strategist and warrior spreads, commanding both fear and respect. These raids propelled him to the rank of legend among the sea peoples.
It is in Luni, a city that they take for Rome, that Björn and Hastein deploy a ruse of incredible audacity. Feigning Björn's death and conversion to Christianity, they deceive the city's bishop, ensuring a triumphant entry into the city and a crushing victory. Just when people think he is dead, Bjorn emerges from his coffin and attacks the city from within with victory in his arms. This feat remains engraved in the annals as a testimony to their ingenuity and their cruelty.

Björn's return is marked by a fatal encounter with the Andalusian fleet. Suffering heavy losses, he nevertheless managed to return to Scandinavia, where he lived a life of wealth but also of nostalgia for the days of raids and conquests.
The sagas say that Bjorn was so resilient in combat that no weapon seemed able to harm him. This invincibility fuels many legends, placing him among the most feared and respected warriors of his time.

And gives him his nickname Iron Ribs, because no blade could give him blood.

Björn Cotes-de-Fer becomes king of Sweden, master of Uppsala but like all heroes, Bjorn Cotes-de-Fer also sees his twilight he continues his reign until his death around the year 876. His son, Eric II , succeeds him briefly, while Refil Björnsson rises as a renowned warlord.

The death of Ragnar Lodbrok, his father, marked by betrayal and vengeance, casts a shadow over his reign, but it is Björn's stature as one of the greatest Viking warriors that endures through the centuries.
